Welcome to Leyland St James’ Church of England Primary School. A Christian School that has been at the heart of the community for over 250 years. Our vision states that, we 'Shine like stars as children of God' (Philippians 2:15). This is lived out daily in all that we do. We are very much a family who work closely together to ensure that all children are happy and achieve well. We have close links with St. James' Church and we are very proud of our strong, distinctive Christian identity, culture and ethos, which permeates all aspects of school life.

Nursery and Wrap Around Consultation - January 2026
Dear all,
We are writing to inform you of some proposed changes that are taking place at school. As you will be aware St James’ Nursery has operated in school in for over 15 years. School is now consulting to run our own nursery and wrap around provision. The provision will be managed as part of school, the proposed provision will be run under Section 27 of the Education Act. The governing body will use its community facility powers enabling us to provide any charitable purpose (such as early education) for the benefit of families of pupils at the school, or families who live or work in the locality of the school.
Upon transferring to school, the nursery and wrap around provision will continue to run according to necessary adult to child ratios. The nursery provision will continue to be based in the same classroom with access to a range of resources and the outdoor area.

This proposal aligns with the Department of Education’s focus on maximising school facilities for early years education. It’s our mission to create a nurturing, supportive environment that sets a strong foundation for children’s educational journey and complements the excellent early learning settings in our area.
