School Uniform

School Uniform – Academic Year 2022-23

At Leyland St James’ we wish to ensure that our uniform policy is fit for purpose, reasonably priced and gender neutral.

It is important that we continue to set high standards relating to uniform and we would appreciate your support in ensuring that your child attends school dressed as per the uniform guidelines outlined below, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Embroidered school uniform can be purchased from our school supplier, Impressions, or alternatively non-embroidered uniform can be purchased from other shops and supermarkets. If you have any questions relating to this please do not hesitate to contact school.

Please note that all uniform must be labelled with your child’s name.

Uniform

The school colours are grey and green and we ask that our children wear the following:

  • Bottle green sweatshirt or cardigan
  • Grey skirt/pinafore
  • Grey (light grey) smart trousers/shorts
  • White polo shirt with collar
  • White/grey/black socks
  • Black shoes
  • Tights for winter may be green, grey or black
  • Summer dresses if worn should be bottle green and white checked
  • Training shoes are not considered appropriate footwear for school

PE Uniform

  • White t-shirt or the school logo PE t-shirt
  • Black sports shorts
  • Black trainers (velcro if your child cannot tie their laces)
  • Black tracksuit bottoms for the winter months

*PE kits will be kept in school and sent home on a regular basis for washing. Please use a drawstring bag for storing PE kits, rather than a large sports bag.

Hair

If long enough hair should be tied back. Please use a simple bobble in keeping with our school colours, avoiding colourful hair accessories.

Jewellery

Jewellery, including earrings are not permitted for school. We do allow a wrist watch if your child wishes to wear one.

Make-up/nail polish

Children are not allowed to wear make-up or nail polish to school.

Book bags

Children from Reception to Year 3 need to use the green book bags that they have been using throughout their time in school.

Children in Years 4 to 6 can use their own small rucksack. Please do not send into school large bags, as we do not have the space to store them.

Water Bottles

Children to bring a fresh bottle of water to school daily. Please use the sports cap style bottle as this ensures water is not spilt and is easier for children to use. Juice/cordial is not allowed for drinking throughout the day. If children wish, they may bring an additional soft drink to have with their packed lunch.

Many thanks for your continued support.
