Charity Work - Foxton Centre
Leyland St James’ CE Primary have been collecting everyday items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, deodorant, combs, sweets and chocolate which were then stuffed into socks creating a Christmas bundle for the homeless and vulnerable people of Preston. On Monday 16th December, Year 6, delivered 3 large bin bags of socks packed with donations to the Foxton Centre.
During their visit, they were lucky enough to have a tour of the centre, seeing various workshops in which the volunteers
Year 6 were also able to see the facilities which are offered to the homeless; the kitchen, sleeping facilities and classrooms which teach life skills such as reading, writing and computing. There was an opportunity to speak to the volunteers, who had previously accessed the centre earlier on in their lives. This was a worthwhile experience, understanding the challenges which vulnerable people experience within our community as well as learning how the community comes together to help those in need.
